"Robles Pass By Morning"
Plien Air / In-Studio Painting
16" x 20" Acrylic on Wood Panel

Southwest Tucson in the morning under a cool cloud building sky and underfoot an old dirt road leading off to Robles Pass, named after Bernabe Robles. Walking the Mesquite and Cholla lined trail one could easily imagine the late 1800's old west. The old-timers share tales of Bernabe riding this dusty trail on horseback from Tucson to Gunsight, Arizona carrying mail. On this morning, with the right sort of eyes, one might glimpse Bernabe tearing across the desert landscape at full gallop with saddlebags flying high in the distant shadows of the hills under blue Sonoran skies.
