"Palms Of Ocean Blvd"

12x9 Mixed Media on Heavy Rag Paper

This piece was inspired by and plays with the iconic symbol of Southern California, tall slender tropical palm trees. Palms planted along Ocean Blvd in Long Beach were intended to signify wealth and luxury, leisure and fun, as well as conjure fantasies of a warm sexy desert oasis. An influence of Hollywood to encourage tourism and their saying "Fake it till you make it".
